The Consulate General of India, in association with the Kerala Muslim Cultural Centre (KMCC) and Edapt Learning Technologies, launched a multilingual online Digital Literacy Programme for Indian workers in Dubai. The program will be implemented with support from the KMCC as part of their CSR initiatives, with Edapt Learning Technologies, India, serving as the academic partner. This pioneering initiative will impact thousands of Indian workers by enhancing their digital literacy, safeguarding them from cyber fraud, and preparing them for an increasingly digital world.
The initiative aims to uplift at least 5,000 workers within the first year, equipping them with basic digital skills, cyber awareness, fraud detection strategies, and knowledge of advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI). Through eight-week training sessions, participants will learn to navigate the internet securely, identify fraudulent activities, manage safe online transactions, and leverage AI for everyday tasks. The training will be conducted live online on a weekly basis, allowing participants to interact with instructors in real time. Participants who successfully complete the program will receive certificates jointly issued by the Consulate General of India in Dubai and Edapt Learning Technologies, validating their enhanced digital proficiency and significantly boosting their employability.
In addition to that, the Dubai National Insurance (DNI) with its marketing partner Nexus Insurance Brokers LLC also launched the Group Protection Insurance for blue-collar workers and other employees at the Consulate. The insurance, becoming effective from 01 April, 2025, has the following benefits:
Covered Benefits:
• Death due to any cause (natural and accidental)
• Area of coverage: Worldwide, including the UAE, India, and other countries while traveling for job purposes (excluding war zones and UN-sanctioned countries)
• Permanent Total Disability (PTD) due to an accident: 100% of the sum insured, applicable to own or similar occupation, with a 12-month deferral
• Permanent Partial Disability (PPD) due to an accident: As per the Continental Scale C benefits
• Repatriation Expenses (for death only): Up to AED 12,000 per employee, including the cost of an accompanying person
Sum Assured: AED 35,000 per person
Annual Premium per Person: AED 32
The above initiatives of Consulate General of India in Dubai is part of its ongoing efforts to improve the living and working conditions of the Indian labourers in Dubai & Northern Emirates and also to ensure that the families of the labourers do not end up in undue financial distress on the passing away of the breadwinner.
