On the last day of his three day visit to UAE, Shri V. Muraleedharan, Hon’ble Minister of State for External Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs ofIndia had a number of community events in Dubai and Northern Emirates.
In the morning, Hon’ble MOS visited the office of the Indian Association Ajman and conveyed his deep appreciation to the organisation for their exemplary work towards welfare of Indian community, especially poor labourers and distressed women. He also mentioned about the important role played by the Association during Covid times and also thanked the leadership of Govt of Ajman for extending support to the Indian community during covid times.
MoS also visited Gulf Medical University located in Thumbay Medicity Campus where he expressed his deep gratitude to the frontline workers including doctors and paramedics during the covid crisis. He also met the President of the University, Mr Thumbay Mohiuddin and had a tour of the University and appreciated the role played by Indian entrepreneurs in healthcare sector and other vital sectors of the UAE. The potential role of Gulf Medical University in the upskilling of Indian workers was also discussed.
After the visit of Gulf Medical University, Hon’ble MOS inaugurated the office of the Indian People Forum located in the Horizon Towers, Rashidiya, Ajman, followed by a meeting with community volunteers from the IPF in Ajman Bahi Hotel. He expressed his sincere gratitude to the His Highness Ruler of Ajman and Chairman of the Ruler’s Court in extending all support for the organisation.
In the end of the visit, Hon’ble MOS had the opportunity of interaction with the Indian community in Dubai and Northern Emirates during a function organised in the Indian Consulate Auditorium. During the interaction he praised the concept of ‘uberisation of educational infrastructure’ in the Upskilling and Training of the Blue Collar workers through Academia- Industry- Consulate partnership. He also launched the PBSK mobile app using which workers and all expatriates could connect with Embassy and Consulate in a better way by registering their grievances, sending queries or live interaction with the people alongwith appointment with legal/psychological or financial counsellor. He drew attention of the people about the various welfare initiatives launched by Hon’ble PM for the returning expatriates and appealed to the community to contribute in ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Make in India’ programmes launched by PM Modi. He applauded the Consulate for its extension of services on a 365 days basis, including provision of free legal/financial & psychological counselling.
Hon’ble MOS also visited Pravasi Bhartiya Sahayta Kendra (PBSK) located in the Consulate premises, and then had a media interaction where he answered questions of all local and vernacular media on the important matters pertaining to India-UAE relations as well as matters related to NRIs. MOS also had a brief discussion with Swami Brahmvihari Das Ji from the BAPS Abu Dhabi Hindu temple to take stock of the progress of the construction of the first Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi.
Hon’ble MOS will be returning to New Delhi tonight on 21st January, 2021 and thanked the UAE leadership, community members, friends from media, and the Indian Consulate along with whom he had fruitful interactions during three days of his visit to UAE from 18-21 Jan 2021.
