Dubai and other Northern Emirates also offer good opportunity for higher education. As much as 40 universities including foreign universities are listed with the Knowledge and Human Development Authority Dubai (KHDA). Commission of Academic Accreditation under the Ministry of Education, Abu Dhabi lists 83 Institutes / universities which are accredited by CAA. Three Indian universities viz. Amity university, BITS Pilani and Manipal University have their UGC approved offshore campuses in Dubai whereas Institute of Management Technology (IMT) is accredited by CAA. Indian students intending to peruse higher studies in UAE should ensure that the institute /university they choose for their higher studies is approved / accredited by KHDA / CAA or is authorized to operate offshore campus by UGC (in case of Indian Universities).
Indian students who have completed their Bachelor’s degree (s) from India are advised to get their degrees equalized from Ministry of Education, UAE before taking admission to any course in institute / university approved by CAA in Dubai and Northern Emirates.
The students intending to pursue their higher studies in UAE should ensure that the course / universities are recognized in India. For this they can contact Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi.
Attention of students is also invited to various guidelines issued by UGC from time to time barring State Universities/State Private universities to operate Distance Education centres outside the territorial jurisdiction of the state. Students are, therefore, advised not to pursue higher studies at distance education centres claiming to be affiliated to any of the state university in India. It is also important to note that the Ministry of Education, UAE does not recognise degrees obtained through Distance/ Private mode of study.
